The Spectre car is the 12th wheel driven vehicle to exceed 400 mph. No thrust or prop power. :-D

Wow, what a great read. I've been driving all day headed to Maxton and just had 9 pages of exciting racing to read about. We will miss you at Maxton this weekend Jon, but I'm glad you're there

Does that include the Vesco Turbinator and Bluebird CN7?

How many piston driven?

And who are the golden 12?
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

By the way, it sounds like he'll need a 412 return run to get the record he's chasing - must be about 410, right?

based on the first run numbers he needs 412 in kilo and 411 in the mile

how come the 411 streamliner is not running at this meet.
The speed that you wish to achieve is only limited by the depth of your wallet.

A question while we're waiting. Why is there a one hour turnaround for cars and two hours for bikes?

In specific answer to the query about the 411 Burkland Family car not being here -- you'll have to ask them.  I don't know.

Amir is getting into the Spectre car right now and is about ready to make the return run.  Here in the pits there's a cross wind about 6-9 mph.  I haven't heard the wind numbers down the course -- will let you know when I hear 'em.

As for the one hour/two hour window -- unh, that's another one that's been chewed very thoroughly here -- and there's no easy answer from my point of view.  You'll need to get your answer from FIA and FIM.

Good news -- the helicopter is about to lift off.  Last body panel going on the car, Amir (the driver) is in the car, course is locked down and nobody's moving ('cept the chopper, and he's up and out of the way).

Joe, take a close look at the picture of the turbine on page 4. Then do a search of how a proper friction weld looks.
I can't tell well enough from the pictures but something doesn't look quite right...... IMHO

The crew and spectators are hand-pushing the car to the starting point.  17 minutes remain in the window, car is positioned at the start line, will run in less than five minutes.  Push truck is no at the rear of the car.  Helicopter is hovering over the car.  Chopper don't stand no chance at all if they try to race, hey?

Engine is running on the Spectre car, course is clear, canopy is going down.

Car is moving on the push truck.

Car is at the one mile on it's own.   Sure sounded bumpy here at the start of the run-- dusty, two.

Chute out and engine off at the two mile.

Glen,

You're right, it's a French thing. No rhyme or reason.

Car is stopped at the 3 1/2, canopy is open, no smoke.

Scott Horner is ready to make a run on the sit on turbo bike.  They're thinking about it -- and don't forget that Nish is at the 12 mile waiting to make a run.
