Sorry -- forgot to tell you last night that the doors were removed from the Ack bike yesterday after the first or second run.  They're not on there, for sure.

They're duking it out at the far end now -- everyone is anxious to run.  This is getting exciting.  Nish is going first, I'm now told.

Nish car is next.  Mike is in the car, getting ready to start the motor.  Running on the 230-mph (or so) record for a 5L n/a motor.

Engine is running.  Appears they're looking for a number over 234 mph.

Canopy is down on the 998 car, being pushed by the truck now.

Car is under way, not accelerating worth a sh*t, still waiting for updated information from that end.

Aborted run, telling Spectre to get ready to run.

Hats off to Mike Nish -- he pulled completely off the race track so that he'd be out of the way so the next car can run - even drove into the crunchies to make sure.

Too bad Robbie Cohn didn't get his wheels -- he'd probably be able to do it.

Stan, yes -- but no.  The class is for "specialty" vehicles, I believe, so streamliners, not Monza coupes, are what can run on the record.

Amir is getting into the car.  Going through final checks.  Given permission to start the vehicle.

Engine is running -- decent sounding hot rod Cadillac! :-D :-D :-D

Amir Rosenbaum in the Speed by Spectre A/BGS is warming the engines and about to leave the mountain end of the international course for a run down here.  He'll be running on an Al Teague 406 record from 2002.

Left the push truck, under power.

By the two, coming fast.  By the three.  By the four, entering the timed stretch.

Entry speed   375   kilo  380   mile   chute deployed

Approaching the pits, under control, slowing nicely.

Spectre was slow -- Amir reports low on power, not going to try a return run 'til they figure out what's what.

George Poteet is getting dressed and they're icing the intercooler.  In the meantime, the Nish crew is setting a record in their crew truck -- rushing a hacksaw to the Speed Demon crew at the far end.

Ah-ha!  Let me amend what I said a few lines earlier.  The hacksaw was for the Nish car.  The deeper story --and explanation about the aborted run -- was they hadn't run the little motor with the bodywork on.  When they put the fiberglass on -- the throttle linkage hit the body and wouldn't move right.  Ergo the hacksaw.  They'll do a quick modification and be ready to run.

Freud,

Maybe next year you will be at this meet with Marlo and crew.
