Engines are running on the Ack Attack bike.  Bike is rolling, out of the pits and under way.

Rocky's in the throttle and sounds like he's having fun!

Through the one mile, shifting and hitting gears and rolling, through the two mile.

Entering the fourth mile.  Getting to the timed stretch.

Entry speed  302   kilo  306   mile  305

Chute is out, through the ten, looking good.

We expect they'll look at the data and decide pretty quickly whether they'll make a run back here soon.

Outriggers are down, slowing nicely, at the eleven mile.

For the sake of the discussion, remember that the FIM rules require, for a record, two runs in opposite directions within two hours, the average speeds of which must be above the existing record.  (*I don't know if there's a minimum increase - like the 1% for cars).  So, in other words, Rocky could make a handful of runs back and forth for four hours, and pick any two, one in each direction, the two of which have the fastest times and are within any two-hour portion of that four hours.  I THINK THAT'S THE WAY IT GOES.

Final numbers on that run:

Entry speed 302.2  kilo 306.5   mile 305.9   exit speed 307.4

Peak of 4mph wind from SSE at the tower during that run.

I know right....Bag the camera, the next enhancement for the site should be auto-refresh. I've wore all the paint off my F5 key.

Rocky's runs don't have to be consecutive for a record?

Yes they do however they will look at the data from the last run and see what they need to do so they can qualify the bike on the 367mph record

Yep...gotta pay for the action and reporting, I am sure it's not cheap driving from the land of the Snow people and staying out there for several weeks covering the shows for us..

John, are you sure about the runs needing to be consecutive?  I overheard that they didn't -- and will, once he's free from his duties, ask FIM Charlie for the true scoop on the subject.  I don't want to mislead anyone -- will get the best answer possible so we all know for sure.  Thanks for posing the question.

In the meantime, Rocky will make a return run in 20-30 minutes.  He had some lean as he went through the timed stretch - wants a return run to confirm if it was wind or the bike with ill handling.

I always thought they had to be consecutive.

Awaiting the scoop from FIM Charlie. Thanks SSS

I am pretty positive that they have to be consecutive runs.  He can run down, then back, then down again. But he has to use the consecutive paired runs. I may be wrong.... Looking foward to hearing the answer from FIM Charlie.

Amo, I am certain that u are correct.

I remember when Don Vesco used that approach one time.

It's the last two runs that count.

One run after another within the two hour window, he could run 370 and pass it up and then run another 370 and take it, then within the window of time (two hours) he has to complete the second run for an average speed higher than the record..I am not sure if the bikes have to beat the record by 1% however..
