I was gonna start off by saying, "just when you thought it couldn't get any stranger..." but SSS beat me to the punch with the fotos of the Aussies and their rented Mustangs.  But here they are, anyway:

Tom --

It doesn't matter -- you don't need any more parts.

"Well, at least there will be an historical footnote to the 2010 Shootout for Mr. Charlton and company lighting up a jet bike in a motel parking lot."

That's probably only a jet bike footnote.  It used to be you had to fire up in town to be allowed in inspection.

And then there's rear end #2 (for this meet) from the Demon:

I think it lasted about 1 shift.

The back half is empty again....

and being prepared for a puffer motor again.

I screwed up.  I jumped to the conclusion that the B & J rear end would be going into the Demon.  This is not the case.  They'll be using the quickchange they get from Fergusen along with the turbocharged 299 inch motor.  They've closed things up for the nite and will start again as soon as they can get on the salt.  Slim covered the changed start time for tomorrow.

It appears that the storm front (which consisted of wind only) is passing and tomorrow should be cooler, but calm.

Nish is still changing motors, the Ack Attack team is still working on the bike, but I think that's just final details.  The Spectre team is pulling out the AA motor and preparing for the A motor's installation.

I think that pretty much covers it.  I'm outta here for a while.

One reason that antagonizing on this site was at a minimum today is because Infected Bystander, Stan Back and FREUD were guests

at a Board Meeting of the San Berdoo Roadster Club. We planned to stay longer but there was a vote coming up  and

we were asked to leave.......even though Stan Back is the member.

One motion that was approved was Caddy power.

Boxed wine, beans and chips was the fare.

I was so fortunate to have been invited to such an important event.

No one in attendance had Wi-Fi so it was impossible to follow the happenings on the Salt, but there was

also a Shoot Out in San Bernardino.

Slim,
If you get a chance in the morning would you find out how much the Speed Demon weighs, looks fairly light for a 400+ streamliner of which I'm sure it's designed for. Just curious.

Also what final gear they run in the quickchange with the big motor.
Thanks Rick

Looks can be deceiving.  The Speed Demon weighs (in turbo mode) about 4300#.  I don't know the ratio -- will see if I can get that from them tomorrow.

Let's see how this makes it from James Rice's thumb drive to this website.  If it works -- it'll be all of the timing slips from the timing tower since the meet started, including (it appears) tests.  It is in Text Edit format -- which is fine with me and Apple. . .

As for webcams, c'mon, you know how boring it is to see a pit - much of the time.  And think about the changing light conditions -- in shadow unless it gets set up right in the morning, then in shadow in the afternoon.

Sure -- it'd be easy enough to do, but would there really be much visual value to a webcam view on the site?  I'll listen to what you folks have to say.  Remember that I've got some dedicated folks working with me to run streaming audio in the near future (but not WF 2010) -- but video?  Would it be worth the bother to have it? Remember that it'd be pretty much unattended.

Webcams of the pit areas wouldn't do it for me... streaming of the AM radio feed that was at SpeedWeek would probably be much appreciated though... Not sure if thats what you meant when you said you were working on audio already...

It might look easy to you and the moe money you have the easier it is but even then its sure as hell ain't easy

That was intended to be a sincere compliment!  To make it look easy you have to get good, usually by years of hard work.

Money can buy you parts and pay people to put it all together, but it still takes the knowledge to know what to put together.  I hate to admit how much I am backtracking decisions and how slow I am building!

Shame the jet bike left.  :-(
