Glen, I see you got a post in after my last refresh, so --

Nish car speeds:

Entry  401   kilo   407.1  mile  407.0   exit  412.5

Best run.  The car is off and in the pits, they've got about 52 minutes left to turn around and get it back to the north end.

New word is that they might not try a turnaround run.  Don't have definite word yet.  They also might make a northbound run to get more tuneup information, then use that to head towards the pits again.

Here's the newest:

Nish team will be making a "return" run, and if that one is good enough -- they'll service at the far end and then turnaround up there and then wave off this first one, just now completed.  Got that?

they would need a 429-430 run to get the 414 + 1% with their 407 (about 418 with the 1%)
Records or parts, I didn't come all this way not to break something.

Nish team has 37 minutes remaining to complete a return run.

Okay, they've fired the engine and are preparing to put the car at the start line.  I see blue smoke as they run the engine -- looks like oil smoke.  I know there was a puff of blue when Mike shut off the engine rolling into the pit at the end of the last run.  Lotsa smoke as he blips the throttle -- but still going to make the return run.  The run will be from highway to the mountain.  Partly cloudy skies, low 60s temp, 5-8 mph highway-to-mountain winds here in the pits.

Over in the Heads Up pit they're running a bike engine.  Don't have any word on their plans for the day.  After the Nish car runs I'll wander and get a story for you.

Hunh?  First things first -- Nish has 26 minutes left before the window closes on this attempt.

Second == it doesn't say 5.37 or whatever on my screen -- maybe it's reading form your 'puter's clock.  My screen gives time off my internal clock which is set to Eastern time.

Nish engine is running and the car is being pushed out of the pit and into position at the highway end of the track.

DANG -- Mike got it a little sideways at the quarter mile mark.  Hauling the mail hard!

Entry speed   387   kilo   393   mile  393   exit  398  chute out

Slowing okay, under control.  Too bad about the "poor" run -- might be a pinched ring or something -- that blue smoke might have been a bad sign.

Still -- decent, hey?

Repeat on the speeds:   entry  387.7    kilo  393.4   mile  393 2   exit  398.0

Speed Demon crew has just been notified that break is over -- parts have arrived.
