What ticks me off is no media coverage from Salt Lake on any of this. What a shame. Wendover is just a bus stop to them. There is so much history in Wendover.

That's why the internet is so great and the news papers and the postal systems are going broke.

I am blurry eyed from looking at this screen but wouldn't have missed it for anything.

Thanks to Slim, Nancy, Ray, Jon, and everyone who helped out with the reporting and pictures.

Congratulations to all the teams – four cars over 400 and a new bike record that’s knockin’ on the door!

Kudo’s to Mike Cook, Loctite, and all the officials and workers who contributed to this greatest show on salt!

Wow!  Congrats!

Am I wrong or did the Ack bike have a stock busa motor with a race motor?  Didn't I read that they removed one and instead of a backup race motor in the crate, there was a stock one?

Anyway, what a meet.  I like "Cook's 400MPH Shootout" as the new name!

So fun to read and see the play by play!

This is Mike Charlton. Me and my brothers are home in Eastlake, Ohio after a 22 hour bonsai run. We did give it one more shot ten miles out of Salt Lake City. Tried to run motor with the bad wheel in it. Still no luck. If it would have started we were turning around. Nonetheless, had a great time and i want to sincerely thank the people that helped us, in no particular order: Landend Linda, Mike Cook, Mike Cook Jr., Tiny Jr., Seldom Seen whatshisname and Nancy, Ray the Rat, people from Loctite; the Nish Family and Friends - thanks a bunch; Mike Ack Ken Ack, Rocky Robinson, whoever was cooking the food at the Ack Pit, Carmen at the Black and White; i almost forgot, Mad Max, Stainless and anyone else i forgot to mention. This story is not over. We will be back.

Peace,
Mike Charlton and brothers. and Sissy the attack dog.

By the way, the lawnmower is going to make yet another run.  They're gaining speed each run -- hit a 97 on the most recent one.  They want to break 100  -  and they're so close.  Good luck to them.

Still quite a party going on here at the 12 mile.  We'll keep in touch for you.   Thanks for all of the congratulations -- I've tried to let the team know what you're saying -- and I'm naming names when I can.

I'm surprised they're not working like hell to turn it around for another run. Take the last two for the record, but try like heck to get that first motorcycle time slip for 400+ !!! That just goes to show that they're better men than me. If I were in their position I couldn't resist taking a shot at it.

Thanks for the great coverage to everyone involved, and to all the organizers and competitors for putting on a great competition and bringing it to us live!

I'll be hitting the donate button as well, as soon as some cash shows up in my bank account that's not already claimed, LOL.
Ah, this is obviously some strange usage of the word 'safe' that I wasn't previously aware of.  Douglas Adams

Was Hot Rod mag there?  Major article on Poteet in the November issue.

Would be a shame if they weren't there to watch the best Hot Rod Show in years.

Whew.  Things are starting to settle and the reality of it all is hitting us smack in the face.  We got to see a bike run over 390 miles per hour!  Whooo- hoooo!

Mike Cook Junior just stopped by here and asked us to give a big thank you from the Cooks for the participation of you folks on the internet -- showing your support for Land Speed Enterprises and all of the racers.  Junior says "we couldn't do it without you -- and we have so much fun that it's a heck (my interpretation of what he really said) of a lot of fun for Mike, Junior, Garcia, Tommy - and everyone.  Land's End Lynda and her people, Nancy and me, and on and on".

Thank you, Cook family.  We all enjoyed it just as much as you did.

Am I right, folks?
