Nancy and I were on the way out when Mark ran.  I wondered who it was -- didn't recognise the bike from our distance.  Then, at the truckstop cafe, we heard someone had just put about 40 mph on a record.  Now we know the story.  Congratulations, and best wishes for the return run in the morning (Mark and Jack, too).

I'm going to see if there are any photos worth posting tonight.  Back in a few minutes.

Here's a batch of photos from the staging line earlier this afternoon.

We'll start with the Burkdoll family's new MMP:

Skip Higginbotham's liner, from the rear.  Gary Allen drove it but had a bad run -- turned out to the inside about the two mile.  No reports on why -- but we saw the car being towed back into the pit, on the dolly, as we were leaving.  No big dents or smudges -- and it was a shakedown run, Skip and Gary had said.

Other vehicles:

Nancy with Fireman Jim debating when cocktail hour would begin:

Here's Charles Nearburg's Spirit of Rett.  He's the car that ran that 320 earlier this afternoon (but after I shot this photo):

Taking pictures of people taking pictures during a long wait in line:

That's it for tonight, ladies and germs.  We're having breakfast with Bob Clancy -- the web elf for this site, who, with his son Trev, rode into town this afternoon.  They'll spend a few days looking at the goings-on of WoS before heading out for further adventures.  And because of that date -- I won't be on the site 'til maybe 9 or so in the morning.  Fair warning. . .

They were gonna start it up but it didn't wanna crank...Max decided they'd pull the plugs and see if it would turn over.
We just had a bad connection on the starter motor.

From Debbie Dross on facebook:

Deluca 252 average thru the one mile...  That's all (mostly) she said.

Billy Shoemaker runs a 208 for a 211.xx or so 1350 M/BF record that should be good for his hat.  Nice job Billy, Bob Sellars and Bill Warner

Mark DeLuca runs 252!!!   First n/a bike over 250!!!   Only the 7th or 8th bike rider to run 250+ on the salt. Way to go Mark, Larry and motor man Steve Knecum!!

Mad max!  180 and change in middle mile..

Roger Lessman blew a clutch to nothing and had a small unrelated fire. Pulled to inside.  Getting parts in salt lake.  In his natural gas powered liner.
