We were having a discussion on another forum and Motorcycle streamliners came up.  I don't think there are very many of them but was hoping to get an idea of about how many there are.  I believe there will be 2 or 3 at the Cook shoot-out, is there more than 10 on the planet?
I can think of the names of 4.  Thought I knew more, but they all ended up being Car ones rolleyes    (I could have sworn Rick Y. was a Moto guy)

BUB
Ack
EZ Hook
Vincent

Thanks for and info/help,
Bill

The 4 you listed are the big 4 as far as streamliners go but there are lots of others out there.  many are much smaller engines and go much slower.  i think what you are really asking is how many of the ultra fast (Which I define as capable of 300 mph +) streamliners are out there?

Looking for a round about number of all streamliners that have 2 wheels, not just the faster ones.

Did the 12 include any or all the 4 I put down?

All except EZ Hook if I remember right.

There was an old Indian powered stremliner that never ran, the red and flamed Harley, Budfab, Peg leg Craig, Another Vincent single engined, a historic one from Germany I think,  etc.  There are lots of them, just not many hyper fast ones.

12 doesn't seem a lot.
Does 20 seem like an accurate number for all raceable 2 wheel streamliners in the world, aren't there ones down in OZ?

Bill
raceable = running, functioning vehical. not building, dreaming, or it use to run but can't make it go now.

that really depends on what you define a streamliner as in my opinion. Most of the road racing sidecar motorcycles would be considered streamliners as you cannot see the drivers entire body.  There are lots of those bikes around that never go to an LSR event.

But you said 2 wheel correct? So that might change everything.  Anybody else care to venture a number here?

The red flame Harley one is California Fritz.

What happened to the yellow J&P Cycles one?  I think it was originally built by Bob George.  Haven't seen it lately.

And there is Derek McLeish's liner.  He runs it in different configurations, with sidecar, and as a 4 wheel lakester, but he has also run it as a mc liner, correct?

nope haven't seen the J&P streamliner in a few years.  They had actually asked my shop to help them build a engine for  them but when we told them their  ideas on how they wanted to build it were wrong they got upset with us and decided  to have somebody else build their engine.   When they came to Bubs that year our 1350cc naked sit on Buell was faster than their 1350cc streamliner.   I guess we did know what we were talking about after all.

Of course it is California Fritz!!! My mind just went blank when trying to remember.   I am definately getting old.

Then the Nebulous Theroms are still around but not sure if they will ever run again as motorcycles.

I have 2.... they both should be back out next year... The JP liner was mine and I made it go the fastest... the JP guys just need more time with it.... I offered John my help with it since i was the one who built it and last ran it but they decided to go in another direction... hopefully that will work out for them.... I think Leo's liner is rebuildable.... I heard Connie and Nick were building one....  My count there are 11 that could actually be ready enough to run if something special came up

I like the Buddfab streamliner, in case you guys forgot about that one. 150mph with 50cc is amazing.

6th post down I referred to the budfab.   Beat ya to it!!   wink

At this years Bubs  I heard that they have retired the Budfab.

There was a new flat black  streamliner that kind of ressembled budfab at Bubs this year (but it was not the same folks) but it did not make a pass to my knowledge.

The Lamberd Brothers are building a new streamliner of their own design which incorporates 2 Suzuki Hayabusa motors similar to the Ack Attack. Gabriel Uttley from the UK is also building a new streamliner along with his team called the Angelic Bulldog project. There is also Mike Charlton and his new jet powered motorcycle streamliner. Eva Hakansson is also knee deep in a new project building an electric powered motorcycle streamliner that she hopes will eventually compete for the unlimited two wheel record. The list is growing and the talent level is amazing. Good luck to them all...

So if it has 2 wheels no matter what powers it, it's considered a motorcycle?
Thanks
