Can someone please tell me how to find scta history records. I would like to know what the record was in 2007 in the C/GT class. I know that it was bumped up two times @ Speed Week in 08 and without a old event program I don't know where to look?

In the 2007 book it's Carter Family Flyer, G. Carter, @ 222.572, set in '03.  I can't find the '08 book.

Too bad you didn't ask them. They were there this year, as they have been for over a quarter century.

Good God loving people.

Thanks for the short history data, do you know who had and what the record was in 06 and how long were they were able to hold it? My wife has been ribbing me about how she held a record at b-ville last month and then just as quick as she held it it was taken away sad. She then told me it was a record that we used to play to here music tongue. Man if I could have just held on to that record then I could say the same grin. Some day I will get a Red Hat and wear it proud!!!

You only get to "rent" records.....sometimes as short as the next competitor in line and other times for many years. One thing about the red hat is when you lose your record to someone else YOU still get to keep your hat..........JD

It would make for a long and tedious effort, but it would be great to have the scta website show records for each year so one could click back through each for a full history.

Most "histories" of the SCTA and Bonneville are in private hands of competitors who have spend much of their adult lives compiling them. There are many books which reveal much of the early history and Hot Rod magazine was very good a printing results a few months after the meet.

Many here will tell you a speed if you know the year and hopefully some pertainant info ie: car #, class, entry name. Things get fuzzy in some folks minds. I remember looking up some infor for a guy on a Cobra he had purchased as a Bonneville Record Holder at over 163.........Well it wasn't quite that way. I sent him a copy of a page showing the speed at 138.....Oh Well...................Good Luck....JD

We ( The Carters) set the C/GT record on August 18, 2003. The average was 222+ set in the 4 th mile with a 365 cu.in. big block in our 1993 corvette. This year (2010) was our 41 st consecutive year running a vehicle.
