help with data logger
« on: August 28, 2010, 08:12:43 PM »
I am trying to capture the air fuel ratio and RPM with an Innovate LM2 data logger.

I just got the LM2 and hooked it up . Everything is working . I did have to use a 100k variables potentiometer to get a tack signal that was even close to accurate. But it has everything but it will not record .

At first I had an HDSD card and it just said "card?" at the bottom when I push the record button. Indicating it was not reading the SD card. Someone suggested that I should try a regular SD card . So I did and it worked . I recorded 2 short sessions . I then put the SD card into my lap top and looked at the fancy graphs.

BUT when I put it back into the LM2 it was back to saying "card?" at the bottom . And when I go to the playback log it says "No SD card detected".

I tried another SD card and it still wont read it. This is bad because have the unit under the seat and cant see the display.  I really need to get this thing working. Innovate is on vacation till September 1. So I thought I would as people that have used this unit .

Am I doing something wrong? and Dose it sound like a bad unit? I will send it to them overnight when I talk to them but in the mean time any ideas?
Thank you to all the volunteers

No experience with it, but I have seen several times with SD cards that sometimes electronics wants a really old slow card, and other times the latest and greatest faster card is required.  I suspect that the equipment that likes older slower cards may not really like the larger capacity but not sure.

Might try borrowing a few and trying them out to see if a different card works.

Fred,  I found a "Racers Kit"  that has a DL-32 and LC-1 with software and all sensors for $699  and free shipping.

Does this seem like a good deal... we are old school around here... never used any electronics , we build with as few wires and components as possible.... I guess we get away with it in with short 1/4 mile drags and 1 and 1.5 mile LSR

But with the long course in mind, we have been told and are feeling this data will be very helpful and even needed out on the Salt in 2011.

Eric,  The SD card that came with your kit did not work ?   I also noticed in all the "kits"  looks like thay all had smaller size SD cards (older slower models).  Sockjon may be correct.

Good luck, see you next month.

I bought the basic kit, it dose not come with an SD card. I have an HDSD card and a couple 2 gig SD cards .The one 2g SD card worked onc time. I ordered the proper one.  Jarl has the LM2 that came with a card and works fine.So I will see. I will let you know what I find out when I talk to you Tuesday night.

I just got off the phone with Innovate.

On August 17 they released an update 3.14 to help the LM2 read faster SD cards and to help with the tack issue. It was not me . Ha .
Anyhow go to there web page go to support then download the new release .

Eric

"tack issue"  darn for as much money as these things cost, to be sure they do not use tack's to mount them...LOL

Oh, you meant  tach,,,  like RPM Reading device,,, LOL,,,  FYI, spell check changes tach to tack ...
