Lars,
Not sure if you still need, but bringing along 46, 48, 50, 52, 54 pilot jets.
I will be staying at Comfort Inn, and arriving Thursday early afternoon.
My cell # is 219-510-4574 (not available until Thurs.)

Thank a lot Drew !
I'll give you a call Thursday afternoon.

Yep; I think I need bigger pilot jets.
Tried the big HD shop in SLC but they couldn't help.
As of now, I'm running 0.45 and I do have this 0.42
that I pulled from the carb

...as I see it, the orifice/size is in the "thick" (left side on pic) part,
while the "thin" tube ( right side on pic ) is the same for the different sizes,
so I've now bought two sets of mini-drills in SLC, so I can make my own sizes if need be

The jets in the middle of the pic, are all the (too small) jets that came with the
DynoJet tune up kit I brought with me over here.
I'm running the biggest one 1.80 ( DJ180 ).
If need be I can bore out one or more of the smaller ones, to the desired size.

As my biggest fear is that I run too lean, and thereby overheating the engine,
the "plan" is to jet it ( running gasoline only ) till it's too rich
and then jet '"down" from there.

THEN stage II is to try and jet it for gas/methanol mixture.
( Or just take a "too rich" jet set-up and add methanol till it's not too rich anymore ).
Whatever I do, I'll run it on the "rich" side.

I'd really like to ad methanol, not really for the added effect,
but to cool things down.
After all; this is an old pumped-up side-valve which , as far as I know,
will get quite hot....and ad to that the blower which will make things even hotter.

You can get those pilot jets all the way up to a #54 size.

Yeah; that's what Drew will bring.
As I said; I just couldn't find them in SLC.

Do you realize that once you are over about half throttle the pilot jet does not do anything? It is really all about the main jets when LSR racing.

Yep.
But , as I said, my biggest fear is overheating the beast
and I DO have to run in the pilot-jet RPM-"range" for example when
the engine is running waiting in the start line
and when acceleration up through the RPM's I need the right ( none-too-lean ) mixture.
I just want to make certain I don't overheat it.

OK just checking as i have not seen a need for anything bigger than a 45 pilot at Bonnevlle altitudes on a small bike such as yours.

Lars
If you are busy doing nothing in Bendover, maybe we can get together and do it together. I am early by 2 days but didn't want anything to screw this week up, I will be there tomorrow afternoon. Where/how can I find you? My cell is 910-528-2699.

Thanks
Bob

Nancy and I will not be attending the 2010 Bub's event, so there won't be any "coverage" of the event from us.  I'm fully expecting that others will provide speeds, photos, and commentary, of course.

If one (or more) of you folks would like to give a few moments each day of the event to providing some information to those of us not at Bub's, I'll be glad to help you get in touch with the Rice Brothers (who'll be doing the timing), so you can get daily run logs and such.  That way you can post 'em for us all to see.  It takes a quick trip across the course, after runs for the day have ended, and handing a thumb drive to one of the guys in the timing stand.  he fills it for you, you go back to your computer and insert and -- well, the rest isn't too much, for sure.

Let me know if I can help you with any part of the project of putting the Bub event on this site.  Thanks - in advance.

Joe, I expect we'll have lots of stuff from you.  After all -- you'll make a run and go to impound and then have tons of time to wander around and gather information.  You'll make your back-up run, go to impound, and another day is freed up.  Repeat for every class -- and we'll have good information from you.

Best wishes for a safe, fun, and fast time at Bub's.

Jon,  Sorry you guys aren't going to be around.  I am heading out there with nothing to do but spectate and maybe help someone out if they can 'use' me.  Was planning on checking in with you guys first since you do so much for everyone else in this sport.  Anyways, have a good time during your break.  Milt
