Small but perfectly formed...
« on: August 08, 2010, 04:17:48 PM »
Hi Guys,

We don't have any really long straights here in the UK, so we decided to make the vehicles smaller! If you like spectacle and speed then you'll probably be interested in attending..

The 2010 ROSSA Radio Controlled vehicle Speed Championships

What? The fastest RC cars in the UK bidding to break the current straight-line speed records:

Nitro: Small block, Big Block, Open-wheeled, Bike and Open ( Unlimited )

Current fastest Nitro record: 103.00 mph

Electric: Stock, Modified, Sub-1/10th scale, Open-wheeled, Bike and Open ( Unlimited )

Current fastest Electric record: 161mph

Others: Large Scale and Non-wheel-driven ( Current UK and World record: 163mph )

Where? Shakespeare County Raceway, nr Stratford Upon Avon

http://www.shakespearecountyraceway.com/index.asp

When? Saturday and Sunday September 11th and 12th

If you fancy coming along to watch, you'll be very welcome. There's no entry fee for spectators. What's more, the nitro open-wheeled ( Buggy / Truggy ) record has yet to be set! If you think your rig's got the danglers, entry fee is £10 or £15 for more than one car / bike.

Here are some highlights:

Kevin Simms and "BadBoy" Jay Draycott will be battling for top honours in the Stock ( 2-cell LiPo ) and Modified ( 4-cell LiPo ) classes. Current Electric Open-wheel record holder, Kev, will be defending his 101mph record, set with his Mamba Monster powered Associated B4. He'll also be taking on the Bad Boy's UK record-holding "Citric Acid" HPI Pro4 with his Schumacher Mi4 but, who knows, There are a good few VERY fast TC3's 4's and 5's out there. It could turn into a 3 horse race.

I'll be fighting hard to keep my Traxxas E-Revo running straight in a desperate effort to bag a much-coveted 100mph cap. Seen the YouTube video of an E-Revo clocked at 91mph? Well, that was on 6S and this baby boasts 10S worth of batteries ( That's 42 Volts Folks! ) a water-cooled motor / ESC combo and the biggest damn foams you've ever seen! If I don't crack a ton, it should be a pretty spectacular failure!

Tony Lovering's Open Nitro ( Water-cooled 9cc boat engine ) dragster should be entertaining. He'll be aiming to beat his standing record, set with a triple-engined monster. Not content with last year's 163mph World Record run, Tony is bringing his Hybrid Rocket-powered car, "Black Knight" to tilt at the 200mph barrier.

So! If you're in the Midlands, or fancy a cruise along the M40, to stare in awe at some of the fastest RC cars there are, OR you want to put your own pride and joy through its paces, come along. You're sure of a warm welcome and you'll be able to tell your buddies. You were there!
