I would like to add on my thanks to you & all of the volunteers as well! Every single volunteer we had the opportunity to interact with was pleasant, helpful and for the new ones eager to learn and do a good job. As a team running several bikes all with their special needs & challenges as well as the various circumstances & needs of our team, everyone was extremely helpful (and tolerant) for us!

Thanks for making it such a great event for our entire team!

We had a great experience with everyone as well.  The starting line guys making sure equipment was right and the finish line guys that were so positive and friendly were awesome.

We had a great experience with everyone as well.  The starting line guys making sure equipment was right and the finish line guys that were so positive and friendly were awesome.

Thank you very much.  I was the guy checking everyones safety gear at the start line.  As a first timer, I was worried about the amount of intrusion that people would want as they mentally prepared for their run.  Keith Turk gave me the best training I could get.  "It is your job to make sure that these people survive.  I have had more than a few starters be the last person to see a racer alive, and it is your job to be certain that they are 100% safe before they run.  For their sake, and for yours."

I would like to thank everyone at the event.  All of the racers were professional and friendly.  I only had to ask two people to correct deficiencies and there were no complaints.

SOOOOO, Here are the stats I kept over the weekend on safety (for those that are certain that they are completely ready):

Chin straps undone Sat. - 13 (One car crew insisted that the chin was ready and I could see it hanging from outside the car.)
Chin straps undone Sun. - 1

Chin straps loose Sat - 30-35
Chin straps loose Sun - 4
I think Saturday everyone got the message that I like chin straps TIGHT :-D.

Kill switch unhooked -2
Boots undone - 2
Jackets unzipped - 8-10
Fire Extinguisher pins  in - 2
Chute pins in - 0
Pair of shoes on the passenger seat(in a race car) - 1
No gloves - 2

All in all, with the hype and the adrenaline, I was very pleased with the level of safety preparedness. I look forward to blistering my feet again next year
.

Blackslax, good job, Thanks for the report. At SCTA-BNI meets we report every infraction and incident to the board after each event. This information is passed on to the club reps to discuss at their meetings. Keep up the good work and congrats on a great 2nd meet.

Tim ... now you know why the starting is the key position to a safe event. You are the last inspection before someone goes 200 mph. The parachute pin or undone helmet strap could ruin someone's whole day ... with all the preparation it is easy for something to be overlooked at the last second. You looked comfortable and you looked in charge. Al Freitas would be proud of you .... Joe

Sat 9:30am, I got to have a longer talk with the guys at the end of the track than I had planned, REALLY nice folk.

Then one of them (dang, i forgot his name), pushed me 15,000' back to my pit.
Strong left leg on him, yup.

I'd like to send him a TFA T shirt, if anyone here has contact info.

Karl ... the designated pusher from long shutdown was Chris ... one of the Massachusetts crew ... the return road crew both timing and long shutdown were excellent.

The one thing about LSR is there is always someone to help out. It can be for the event or the racers needing a little help or a part and other guidance for the newby. Wait till you get to Bonneville and see the support. Always tell them how much they mean to the sport.
