Wanted: Holset turbo
« on: July 30, 2010, 03:25:01 PM »
If anyone is updating their turbo setup and has a Holset HT3B in working condition they no longer need, it would be a perfect turbo for my project. I am looking for one that DOES NOT have a divided exhaust inlet. I am not interested in re-buildables. Dirty is okay, fried bearings and damaged turbine wheels are not. If you still have oil lines and can part with them, let me know as I will compensate you for them as well.

Not a problem. Their prices have gone up as more people find out about them, but still not too bad.

Yes, Goldfarb is pretty good. Also Pius from Bell Turbo in Oregon might be able to help with the exhaust housing that you need. PM for his contact info. We run twin HT3Bs on our 63 LeMans (Project Vinny) 496 BBC. They work pretty good with 20cm divided housings but would probably work better with 22cm undivided housing from HT60s.

The reason i am looking for a non-divided exhaust is because the turbo isn't going on an engine, it IS the engine with not much more than a fuel chamber between the front and back halves. A divided runner will creat more friction and heat and shorten life as well as hamper performance.

Would some old Turbonique stuff from the '50s and 60's work for what you're doing?
