Reading the efforts John went through to slow down from 252 was interesting. An additional 300 feet would help.

Going out the back door and hitting some kid on a dirt bike would eliminate the need for any volunteers.

We can fine someone if they go out the back door, but the driver/rider has still gone out of bounds with the potential of an accident.

Could the exterior cone lines be extended past the back door to act as a visual deterant to the other uninformed Lakebed users?

This was discussed at length a while back.  My feeling was (and still is) that going out the back door (first offence)should result in the driver being set down for at least a season (or six consecutive meets).   The good ol' boy, nudge, nudge, wink, wink network won't save our butts if there is a fatality.  And with the number of people (stupid or otherwise) running around the lakebed the possibility of a fatality is more than real.  Its begging to happen.
Get off the stove Grandad.  You're too old to be riding the range.

well Dean I agree with ya and im sure a lot of others do as well.... but some things arn't black and white... they should be but in some cases there needs to be gray.... In the past, some of the SCTA old timers would cut yer nutz off if you farted sideways, they were quick to punish and were against a working relationship.... The SCTA has made quite a lot of progress in working twords fairness over the past few years... this situation unfortunately was quite old school punishment, but there was a lot of gray area with black and white.....The extra shut down is a good thing !
