Wanted: Headers or Flanges for Dart-Buick Heads.
« on: July 14, 2010, 08:33:19 PM »
I know this is a long shot, but I am looking for a set of Flanges or complete headers for my #300 Street Roadster. They must fit the Dart-Buick style heads. PM me if you have something you think I can use.

Thanks,

Tom G.

Tom:
If you've got a pattern or can make one I've had really good success getting header flanges laser cut. I usually get them cut in 3/8" plate. That way there's enough material if I want to skim the inner surface after to ensure that they're true and there's still enough material left to ensure the plates don't warp and leak later on. If you're building mild steel headers I've had best success tig welding them up on the inside and then running a silicon bronze fillet around the outside. They don't crack at the flange with that treatment.
