Exploded view of tranny
« on: June 30, 2010, 08:37:53 AM »
Pulled our T101 last night and it looks like a bomb went off in there. Not the kind of exploded view I wanted to see. 1st and 3rd gear stripped out, rear bearing destroyed, output shaft sheared off between the 3rd gear and 3-4 dog. How it did all that I don't know. Sure looks expensinve though.

Sometimes it can be very hard to find the cause of the failure. Most of the damage usually happens because the broken part from the first failure get into the places it should not be and breaks the other parts. Look at the parts very carefully and try and figure out where the weak link broke. Sometimes they are so destroyed it is imposable.  Good Luck.

I know your pain, been there done that. I found the cheapest way out for me was to take my Muncie to the trash can, open lid and say good by. Then buy another trans in good shape.

After an unfortunate incident with my trans. I replaced it with another. Before doing so I decided to make a video of the goings on inside there. It took 5 hours to shoot the 40 sec clip. I had to trick the positive neutral finder to get it into second. That is why I reach over and flip the out put sprocket.otherwise the whole thing would fall out of the case. I almost gave up.
Enjoy

That is a nice and strong looking tranny for a 250.  I'll bet there are are not very many problems with them.

With a 30 hp engine the trans is Bullet proof. BUT it is lubricated with the pump from the engine. I turned off the engine with the wheel still spinning on the dyno.  OOPs Welded 5th gear to the input shaft in 20 seconds.

Good thing they sell on E bay for 100 dollars. :-P
