Front runner tire for production coupe
« on: June 28, 2010, 07:53:37 PM »
Would just like some info,do you have to run a standard production tire for a production coupe class or can you run a front runner tire in this class, and if so which brand is best for speed in the 150 to 170 MPH area.

Do you have the SCTA rule book.  They are legal to run.

Where are you running this car?  If it's on the pavement such as Maxton, Loring or Texas Mile, do not use Front Runners for drive tires.  The pavement will tear them up.

I don't know what the record in your class is but if is less than 200 mph then you could run V or Z rated
radials, If it's ovwr 200 MPH then I believe you will need Bonneville Tires on all 4.

Fast, if your car weighs over 3500 lbs., you want the Bonneville front runners which are identical to the drag race front runners but have three times more sidewall cords.  If you spin your car on the drag race front runners with a heavy car, you are asking for trouble.  The drag race tires take 35 psi, and the Bonneville tires  take 75 psi, so you can imagine the difference in side loads in a spin............ Hi Guys,
Both Hondata cars (#2132 and #4240) run goodyear front runners in various sizes 21" 23" 25" and 26". The Acura RSX has been up to 234 mph on them (and spun out at 227mph - flat spotting all 4). The recommended pressure is 60psi. The RSX weighs about 2900lbs.
