A quick Check on Required Saftey Equipment.
« on: June 26, 2010, 07:31:30 PM »
Trying to gather up the needed items to meet the saftey requirements.  We are building an xxo/pro car.  So record is less than 140 MPH.  If you guys could just make sure I am on the right track before I spend money on these items.  Dont want to buy something that is not right.  Thanks.

Will this be a correct fire system, For cars under 150mph, ie. 5lb.

This will suffice for a Belt System?  2in crotch, and 3in shoulder and lap.  SFI 16.1

Because your car is a new vehicle for 2010 you will be required to use a hans type device. Please check with the manufacturer of the HNR device you buy. Some require the use of 2" shoulder belts in order to ensure maximum safety. The use of 2" shoulder belts is approved by most sanctioning bodies and according to the manufactirers and SFI are of equal protection as the 3" shoulder belts. The set up will be 2" belts over the shoulder and HNR device to a fitting which has 3" belts going to the latch.

I too have a quick question about the HANS device, Just when is it required?  I am currently without a rulebook.

   Thanks,  ERVIN

For SCTA-BNI events, Speedweek, World Finals and El Mirage the HNR device is required for all new cars. A new car is one that has never turned a wheel in anger at a SCTA-BNI event. All other cars are required to begin use Jan 1, 2011.

That said, the USFRA, World of Speed, uses the SCTA rulebook so I think they will follow the same requirements. I do not have an official word from them yet.
