I guess the heat was a mixed blessing this weekend. We made 7 passes on Saturdaywith just about nobody in line. I've never seen it like that!

This was the average line 5-10 cars/bikes at a time. By the afternoon we literally just drove to the front of the staging line.

Keith managed to round up some good spirited bikers to indoctrinate this poor car guy into the 200 club.

I don't know if they're laughing with me or at me...
We did have a great time this weekend though and were super happy that the car went 205 in the heat of the day. She was breaking up in 1st and 2nd pretty bad and we haven't figured that one out yet but the broken tranny first thing this morning sent us packing. Thanks to all the volunteers and the usual players in the 'officials' ranks. See you on the salt in 6 weeks!

lost the tach on the 3 run ... who knows of a tach that won't shake it self apart ...

I had the same problem with my 1350 Joe, I shook several $350-$400 Autometers apart as well as a couple of those black mini ones..............here is what you need. Search around they can be bought for around $35-40............I just sold one not to long ago for around $35. OEM

I think it was 80+ in the morning. Maybe it was the leather but it felt like 105 . it said 110 on my thermometer. Then there was the humidity.
That was a tough day.
I have to Thank the volunteers that stood out in the heat.  And Debbie For not only getting the results up in Record time .But she came to my red faced rescue with cold water and wet rags for my head. I got a little over heated changing the rear sprocket.

I got 22 runs in and a personal best of 112.3 mph. Doing the same thing over and over expecting different results means you are crazy. Doing something different every time and getting the same results makes you crazy.
Cant wait till September.
Thank you to all the volunteers

Doing different things over and over and expecting the same results makes you..... an unsuccessful racer!

Just HAD to finish out the realm of possibilities here.

The heat index was well over 100 each day with the actual temps in the high 90's. I thought I heard a much higher heat index on site. Humidity was very high.

Dean's record is on a naked (unfaired) NA (motor) 1000 not a turbo.

You are most welcome Eric! We all have to work together in these conditions! As Joe stated in the drivers meeting, this was the hottest meet we've ever had. Everyone did great, worked well together and kept as cool as possible on many levels! I learned a few new beat the heat things this meet in regards to our racers & bikes which will help us in the future when it's not so hot!

I give my giant thanks for the start line coolers! I utilized them a lot to keep my boys cool!

Great job to everyone involved!!!
Debbie

PS: Happy Birthday JoshO & great riding this weekend! You make us proud! :-*

We blew the trans in the Stude Saturday morning (big shaft M20 - Ouch), blew trailer tire that afternoon (2+ hours, 2 tires and $220) , broke a leaf spring around midnight in Washington....rigged a chunk of oak between the axle and frame, used a come-along, a tie down strap and 2 axle straps to pull the rear axle back into position...and drove 45 miles per hour the rest of the way home stopping every 5 miles to beat the wood back into place.  Loring is still on the schedule but we will be pushed to do it.

According to the airport weather history, on Sunday the heat index went above 100F right before noon and topped out right at 110F.

Now that seems like El Mirage weather minus the humidity  :-o

Happy Birthday Josh!

Dean, what are you doing on an NA bike...  Congrats..

Yo Andrew - and they say LSR is not fun  :-D.  As I rode by your place on my bicycle Friday, I was kicking myself that I hadn't called and maybe arranged to tag along this weekend.  Now I see all the fun I missed . . .  Can I offer any help with the prep for Maine?  I can't make that trip but might be able to lend a hand before  . . .   and No I have not made any real progress on my junk . . .  Art
