2010 P R I show in Orlando
« on: June 18, 2010, 01:13:59 PM »
Nancy and I have been granted press credentials for the upcoming P R I.  I've never been there -- and know that some of youse guys have attended the show in the past.

What will we find, what should we expect, how can we provide good coverage and give good information on what we find?  Will any of you Forum folks be there?  How about vendors that we know -- any of them on here -- to invite us to their courtesy rooms away from the show's floor?  I assume but will ask you -- are we going to be allowed to carry and use our camera?  Think they'll let us post the photos we take?

It's December 9 - 11, I think.  Of course it means we'll have to give up some nice wintry weather in Marquette County for a long weekend, but I guess we can make the sacrifice for the sake of all on landracing.com.

Glenys and I choose to go to the IMIS show in Indianapolis.  We used to go to PRI but have changed, now there is a choice.

Orlando is nice with Disney, where we are often found playing,  but Indy is the "right" place for an event like this.
The downtown area is really cool at this time of year.  The town is very friendly and accommodating.

Gee I don't mean to sound like an advertisement.

Jon,

Forgive my ignorance, but it would help to know what PRI stands for.  Is there a web link?

I think it's like the SEMA show only less chrome wheels.

I think it's not Pubic Retreads Incomprehensible.

Seriously -- I don't know for sure.  Perhaps "Performance Racing Industry?  I'll go to the website and look it up.  I know that I found it through Google -- by typing in just those three letters.

So, Rick -- the show in Indy?  What's it called?  When is it?  Maybe there'd be reason for us to go there, too -- although our travel calendar is pretty well booked what with racing through Riches/Airtech was there, and I remember seeing a you the end of October, so that'd play into our plans.  We went to a show in Indianapolis a handful of years ago.  Kent delivered a bike for us from Calif. or someplace, and I best remember seeing a young fellow wearing a 200 MPH Club shirt - and that impressed me and made me wish I had one of those for myself.

And now, a bunch of years later -- I've got the shirt.

I enjoy the show, even thou there's mostly 4 wheeled stuff there.
I seem to find something there every year that helps with our racing.

SLIM

IMIS is International Motorsports Industry Show   http://www.imis-indy.com

First week of Dec.   DEC 1,2, and 3

It is pretty much what PRI was before it got too big.

Also Indy is about 600 miles or a 1 day drive from I'll bet 80% of the racers in the US.  Sorry left coast. (you are still my favorite)

Nice place to go
far enough from Christmas to not interfere

Like I said, nice place to be, and a nice place to go.
Glenys and I lived in Indy a lifetime ago and loved it.  It is better now.

YMMV

Slim, I worked he IMIS show last year with our local SolidWorks reseller and it was pretty good even though there was lots of construction. It will be twice as big this year and I will likely work it again. Met some great racer folks! Only gripe was the hotels really peel you on the parking - $14 to $34 dollars a day this year. :x I told them I only wanted to park and would need a deed for those prices!

The PRI is huge and everyone should see it once!

Here is the link to the PRI show:  http://www.performanceracing.com/tradeshow/

Feel free to stop by the Innovators West booth (4311-4313) and say hello.  We have a smaller booth and no cool "back rooms", but we'd be happy to shake your hand and say hello.
