Traffic Cones
« on: June 17, 2010, 09:02:56 PM »
I really hate to start a new topic here, But..............
We could use some Traffic cones, actually a LOT of traffic cones.
We have to delineate the runway, turn-outs, spectator parking, starting/tech lines, and all those runway lights.
Last year we used those provided  by the gracious local municipalities, and them beautiful  TyRods delivered a load courtesy of Frank Cutting and Paul Aldridge.
What we'd like is if we could get some donated to be permanent LTA property so we do not have to always depend on the same good people to come through every year.
Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, ( ask your Dad what that means), but we'd ideally like basic Orange, unmarked by traceable local Highway Dept markings ? LOL ?
About 300 would be nice. Also, In this case, size does not matter. One or 300, we'll take 'em !
Thank You all for your indulgence !

I see we got "223 views", but only one reply.
IF you'd like, contact me off line, in a PM, if you have a plan.
As  in maybe somebody participates in a SCCA type Autocross club and does have access to bring along what the club isn't using on an off weekend. I realize this doesn't jibe with my original request for permanent donations, but we do need a lot of them, even if only temporarily.
Lurking is OK, sometimes even better than people who post but really don't say anything constructive.
Thanks for your indulgence

vic says i can borrow about 20 cones.
the cones will need to be used in a non safety related
area-- as they come home w/me and who knows when
i may have to leave. ok ?

vic's buddy has a good number of used 36" cones he
will sell cheap. how many & how much $ i don't know.
i am willing to haul (within reason) them to loring gratis. should know
more in about a week.

Hi Bob,
I don't have rode cones but I can donate grade stakes.  We supply them to the snowmobile clubs and the ski areas. They are usually just long edgings, but I can have my summer help make some up next week as I need to keep them busy during summer shutdown at the mill. Plus, you won't have time to travel up here and then start pointing stakes.

They might be good for parking and camping markers.

Stainless Bob,
I like it, but I can imagine the collection of stuff we'd end up with !
Uniformity is important. Last year I was up on one of those service towers at the lights and between the distance and the heat wave mirages, I swore the cones were moving.
Probably Illegal aliens sneaking across the Canadian border, only 2 miles East, disguised in Orange dresses. If we could only get them to stand still..............

It might be worth e-mailing Bob W. When you've got your plate as full as he has sometimes threads don't get completely read. If you click on the envelope symbol on one of his posts that will open up his e-mail.
