Airbags for motorcycle leathers

Just read this in the NY Times, kinda cool. Probably very expensive.

i got hit with the airbag in a Grand Am once. I think the dash would have felt better. The airbags (in cars) use an explosive halide charge that heats the bag up a lot more than you want to put your face on and leaves chemical burns and bruises. They aren't soft either, but are made from a tight weaving of wire mesh. Those are to be filled with helium or nitrogen and make contact with your leathers intead of your skin. I'll call it an improvement in airbag technology.
