windy weekend?
« on: June 11, 2010, 03:41:44 AM »
Anybody been watching the weather at El Mirage?  It's been super windy for the last two days (on the weather channel anyway).  Does anyone know what it's been like on the lakebed during the day?

Unless it's crazy, ambitious and delusional, it's not worth our time!

On the SCTA web site when you log on go to the El Mirage tab and open it. It has current weather conditions of the lake bed.

That wind speed does not cancel a meet. It does put a meet on hold however.

If it's real windy, Starter Dean will run a bike to "test the wind" :)

Good luck John. Are you going to try to better your last 240+ speed with the same bike?

Should have said a better run Sunday...and if I and the starter feels it is "go time" then I will run.

Don,

We found something worth 2-3 mph last meet and will try to do it for a third time...it worked at the last meet and it is so simple..how fast can you go in 1.35 mile rather than 1.3 miles?

Hmmm. I get what you mean. I guess that makes sense, John. An extra 350' for acceleration. Can't argue with the results.
