Valve stem metal caps
« on: May 20, 2010, 06:21:14 PM »
As I was in the process of mounting a new tire on the sidecar wheel of our Bonneville outfit, I was reminded that there are some real nice Alum. valve stem caps on the after- market......(all LSR equipment is required to use metal caps)  However, I have had problems removing those caps due to water and salt getting between the stem and cap.  On one of our bikes I had to use pliers and a box-wrench to get the cap off. I have been putting some lube inside the caps for the past 10 years......problem solved..........
That salt gets into everything.....
Question authority.....always

..........That salt gets into everything.....

too true , Bak , I've got it in my blood and it has affected my brain.......my astute finacial judgement is gone, my sense of perspective....

What's wrong with the stainless caps?, they're still pretty light, don't sieze either.
Few understand what I'm trying to do but they vastly outnumber those who understand why...................
