NAE update
« on: May 01, 2010, 12:39:10 AM »
People keep asking me when we are going to run again and I have to say that the schedule is set in jello. We've replaced the 2 line afterburner with a new 4 line burner and will be running a test in the next week or two at an airport about 50 miles away. We're currently working on fairings and other aerodynamic things. We have a formal request in to run at Edwards AFB this summer or early fall but we have to come up with about $26K for the privilage. In addition to that, we have the usual expenses of about $20K so we will need to find a sponsor or group of sponsors which might be interested in having their logo displayed on a Discovery show that is in the works about the NAE. It all takes a huge amount of time and money to do this and we know that the Brits and Aussies are nipping at our heels. The folks at Edwards told me they can give us 11.5 miles so we should be able to get some serious speed runs completed on the next series of tests. Successful runs this summer should give us a good feel for whether we can declare a time to actually go for the ultimate record. Remember, it is all an experiment!

.

Hey there F104A , Ya biggest fan fom Aussie here , wouldn't have the above 'trophy' if i wasn't. (Cost me a lot of Yak Skins at the DLRA Auction last year!), (still not sure how Rob got ahold of if , I think he bought two .One for himself and one for Auction.) Had to have it!!

Have been keeping up with your progress , and watched EVERYTHING (Discovery included) on your mission , I know you don't have a 'Noble' budget , but you guys have the spirit!! Keep at it , at least you have "Chuck" on ya team!!

If you guys go over the 763.xxx record , i'll be sending this print back to Ed to be signed , Good luck at Edwards , hope someone can help with the bucks to do it. Look foward to hear of the progress.

Cheers , Bob.
Wanna go fast??  Come to Lake Gairdner! (It's Down Under!!)

Thanks for the update.  I'm in awe of your ability to stay focused, and your continuing efforts, especially during these tough economic times.

Go get 'em, Eagle!

Congratulations on the successful test, but DARN, I would have loved to be there. Shelton is real close to me (I'm in Puyallup). When & where will the next tests be?

Sounds good. Let us know the exact dates and times when you will be at Shelton. I would love to get some night shots of the afterburner too. I'll bring the hot dogs.
