I went pretty fast at maxton
« on: April 15, 2010, 09:41:04 PM »
What's up everyone?
I just wanted to share my story with you guys and see what you all think.
This weekend was just beautiful at Maxton, the weather was great , the track was run very smoothly, and best of all I went really fast.
The shut down was changed so Keith Turk asked everyone to take it easy on there first pass of the year. I dropped the boost down to its lowwest level and proceeded to make a nice smooth uneventful pass that ended up with a new record in e/bfss at 202.49 mph(I think). I checked the data logs and tweaked the tune a little, checked the fluids and such and put her back in the lanes. After sitting in the lanes for a long while I decided to turn up the boost from what I was going to run up to a little more as I didn't think we where going to get another run in on sat.
So I turn up the boost and wait, I finally get up to run and away we go-1st gear slip the clutch then step on it and instantly hit the 11,000 rpm rev limiter shift to 2nd and bog because I didn't want to sit on the limiter, car catches up with its self -tire spin-shift to 3rd -tire spin, shift to 4th still spinning the tire but really pickin up speed now, shift to 5th a little tire spin then shes pulling really good, then the run is over
Result of this pass- new record in d/bfss and the all time car record at Maxton(at least for 1 day anyway) with a pass of 237.64.

Hey Terry no problem, I hate to see someone go home because of some stupid problem. At least now he won't waste another race weekend because now the clutch don't work.
It's always great hang-in around with you guys.

Those EVOs are nasty, fast buggies!

For us traditionalists that grew up with Model A's and flatheads, it's a rude wakeup call to the fact that the FUTURE is upon us!

But more than likely, they don't get to score at the drive in like we did.

I'm guessing they do OK  :-D

Congrats on a great accomplishment, crazy fast for any street car, outrageously fast for a 4 cyl small displacement street car.

Well the rear wing is stock just moved farther back which I found to be the best compromise when I took the car to the wind tunnel. That is without spending more than the car is worth in the tunnel. This wing placement gave the best balance between down force and drag if I remember rite.

What I really learned too my dismay was that the car is a huge aerodynamic disaster, but the rear of the car is by far the worst culprit. I am probably going to start making some easy passes without the wing to see if the car gets too much rear lift or not. If it doesn't then I should be able to pick up quite a bit of speed.
