Hey, hey, hey.  The banquet's over and we're about to get horizontal for the night -- but here's the link to the Photobucket site where I've stashed the photos I took.

Highlights:  Scott Griswold was given the John Beckett Memorial Award for being the most important guy at the ECTA for the recent past (I'm paraphrasing, but he sure did deserve it.  Scott's wearing a blue shirt and holding the crystal engraved trophy.

Tom Schaeffer won the motorcycle points award -- with Todd Dross getting it to share since Todd did lots of the riding for Tom last year when Tom had medical reasons for not being able to ride at some of the events.  And Ed Brace won the car points award - for the second year in a row.  I'll get the other information to you later -- gotta get some sack time now.  Here's that link - hope it works.  I'll edit so you get to see the Maxton April 2010 album - only.

Exciting day for bikes as the battle continues for open wheel supremacy. Both Bill Warner and Shane Stubbs overcame difficulties to post a speed of 257 MPH on their turbo Busas. The Maxton record of 260 and the Texas record of 261 are within sight. You know the pressure will be on tomorrow. Stay turned.  LSL

Larry, you're one fast guy -- beat me to the keyboard.  Yeah, 264 3/8 is not all that shabby for a one-mile paved course. . .hey?  There've been some fast runs today -- a new car track record of 240++.  Remember -- Debbie says she'll get run logs for the event - most likely late tonight, maybe in the morning.
Bob, the fellow with the 750 Honda is running without the outfit today -- but did a best of 106 (that's what he told me) with it attached.  It's home-built, he says -- two points to hold it to the bike plus a stabiliser bar.  He said he'd give me his email addy later - in case you really want to learn more about the rig.

Bill Warner has been making passes -- and fast ones - but
272.340 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  just now.  WOWOWOWOW!!

Bill's in impound now -- and I got a few photos.  Gimme a minute and I'll post them, too.

And yes, someone's already asked -- what was Joe Amo's fast mile last year at WoS?  272. what?  Thanks.

Yes, I know there's a complete universe of difference between Joe at Bonneville and Bill here at Maxton - so please, folks -- I'm just the messenger.  But the inevitable questions will arise -- might as well get the data correct.

On another subject -- my bike is in the trailer now.  Three runs -- upped the record each time.  This last one put it at 185 and some nice change -- and was the most fun of the weekend.  Each run was good -- each was more fun than the run before.  I'm a happy guy today.  Nancy got video, even -- even when I followed Todd's instructions and pinned the throttle in second.  Lit up the tire just dandy in second -- I hear Todd mumbled "Why does he do that?  I tell him to go WFO -- he does.  Why?"

Man, what a fun weekend.

Okay -- bike 1105 is on the course.  That's Shane Stubbs again.  Let's see -- blue smoke, hurt the motor, slowed through the traps.  Oh, well, ain't this racin' fun?
