8 psi on ABS OEM intake.....bad idea?????
« on: March 21, 2010, 08:07:13 PM »
I have heard of some people doing #25+ psi on Porsche OEM plastic IMs.

I am looking for 8 psi out of a toyota-lexus 3ur engine. (uses a plastic IM).

Intake temps will be >150

No aftermarket IM is available
Dont want to attempt to one off one.

Heres a pic of the IM.

Any thoughts???

J.H. I know that Toyota is installing roots style blowers on their trucks. Try contacting TRD
in L.A area, they should have the answer you need. Eric

No experience with that particular intake, but I'll wager that 8sp is no problem.  We've routinely pushed 20psi into Gm LS plastic intakes, and also Ford Modular intakes.   Both only gave us trouble when the tune wasn't sorted, and we had an intake backfire.   Be ready with the kill switch if that happens (engine goes instant WOT), otherwise - 8psi I doubt you'll have a problem if your tune is in check.
