I called Pine Acres Lodge again this afternoon.
They are still not accepting reservations for April.

What is going on here, is that allot of new road construction is occuring in the area and Pine Acres management have bid on supplying rooms for the road crews.  They still have not heard back regarding their bid, so are keeping the rooms available in case they win the proposal.

The desk clerk told me they do not know when they will hear back from the construction company and suggested that I go ahead and make alternative arrangements at another hotel.

Also, there is a Storytelling convention going on the same weekend and apparently this is a very big deal in North Carolina and people are streaming in from all over.

So, to ensure you have a room in Laurinburg for the April Maxton, I recommend you secure rooms at one of the other hotels in the area.  Other than  the Pine Acres Lodge, I have only stayed at the Clinton, which was nice.

Other racers have said the Jameson is nice but put a $500 hold against your credit card (which affects your available credit line) and it takes 2 weeks to come off.

Also, I have heard from quite a few to steer clear of the Scotland Inn (big issues there).

Contact information for some of the motels in the Laurinburg/Maxton area.

I put in the contact phone numbers, but for some reason the site is blanking them out.
If you quote my message, you can see the telephone numbers.

I see the phone numbers.

I got my reservation about a month ago at the Jameson Inn, used their website.  I've figured out over the years it's much easier to cancel a room than it is to find one when everything else is sold out.   Done my Loring reservation the first week of Janurary.

I have stayed at the Jameson 3 or 4 times,,, they have never put a hold on my AMEX card.  I have also stayed at the Clinton...both nice...Clinton is about $10 cheaper... but a bit louder....tour buses use this hotel and crowds a but loud the last two times I stayed there,,,

The Clinton, Jameson, Holiday Inn and Hampton are all good,,, stay away from Scottland Inn,,, it's a crack joint...

I am staying at the Jameson in April. (I feel more secure for rig,, one way in and out and well lit)

ROFLMAOPIMP

I bet the ECTA members could give them a run for their money, a double competition weekend!

Lou Blue ( the manager at the Clinton) will usually open the back building for ECTA folks if requested. But don't forget, the Scotland has a full staph of working girls.

We always specify that we want a room in the back when we book at the Clinton.  No through traffic that way -- no highway noise, either.  If you try to get a reservation there -- do the same, ask for the back, ask for the racer price (not that there is always one, but sometimes it helps).
