WHEEL SPACERS/ADAPTORS
« on: March 21, 2010, 08:28:14 AM »
I just purchased land speed tires, 15" X 4.5" X 3/8" thick steel wheels and moon hub caps.  WOW$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The rears fit fine, but the fronts, (because the wheel centers are flat), I need to install a 3/4" spacer to clear the brake rotor.  The spacers are readily available and longer wheel studs are no problem.

I just need to know if this is legal????????????

should be legal, but I think you may not help your scrub radius.  Sparky?

I've used spacers for years and never had a problem with tech. Make sure they are properly centered. I actually attach them to the wheel, then put them on...Good Luck

Thanks for the response.  If I need to, I'll take your suggestions, and run the spacers.

Just for your information I came up with another solution.  Instead of spacing the wheel out, why not move the brake caliper in.

Turns out that many cars run the 5 X4.5" bolt pattern.  The Ford Ranger pick up has this pattern, and the rotors are offset 3/4" back from my current application.   Now if I run 3/4" spacers behind the brake brackets, I have accomplished the same thing without affecting scrub radius.  Hope it works.  Thanks again.
