MOTORCYCLE / RIGID OR SPRUNG?
« on: March 16, 2010, 01:21:35 PM »
I'm in the mock-up process of my 100cc bike. The donor frame has a swing arm. Looking at pics of bikes its 50/50, rigid/ shocked. Which is best for El Mirage racing? Or does it matter with such a small bike?

At the speeds you will be running, I don't think it matters. So you might as well keep the swingarm. If you were going fast, such as 150 and above I think you would need a good suspension to keep the tire in contact. Having a suspension can only help, not hurt.
Good luck. Keep up advised of your progress.

Rigid frames often weigh less, and this might be important with a little bike.

it only matters if it helps you go faster.....

with enough determination..either can work fine or not so well...

Thanks guys, Im going into this blind so any info is appreciated. What we have come up with is an adjustable rigid set up so we can adjust height? At this point it looks like it might work? (at least the drawing on the cardboard box looks good)
