The Gold Coast Roadster and Racing Club made a major decision this week.

Generally the event is the last Saturday in September but the changes in the LSR schedules have necessitated a change.

With the special meets, Bub and Mike Cook's Shootout, many people can not fit the Gas up into their schedules and have

asked if there is any way that it could be rescheduled.

The new date will be April 30, 2011. There will be no event in 2010 since there would not be enough time between events for

the event people to organize and arrange it.

The spring date will be the new annual time.  So for 2011, mark you calendar for April 30.

Here are several fotos from the 2009 event.

If anyone is interested and in the Los Angeles area the Mickey Thompson display is at the NHRA museum until Oct. There are a lot of his cars and other MT stuff, also many pictures of what he did. Don't miss it if in town.

The OFFICIAL WORD

GOLD COAST ROADSTER & RACING CLUB
P.O. Box 1234
Buellton, CA 93427
(805) 245-8519

ATTENTION TO ALL LAND SPEED RACERS

RE: 18th Annual Dry Lakes Racing Hall of Fame

The Gold Coast Roadster and Racing Club wishes to take this opportunity to announce a change in the date of the annual Dry Lakes Racing Hall of Fame GAS UP.

Due to the many events just prior to, during, and immediately after the usual September date, the Club has decided to move the event to the spring - just prior to the first El Mirage event in May.

To facilitate the move the 2010 event will be delayed until APRIL 30th, 2011, so mark your calendars now!

After 2011 we expect the event will be held in the first week in May depending on the holidays around it, like Mother’s Day and Easter.

For SCTA Clubs and other voting members, expect your ballots for the 19th Annual Hall of Fame to arrive in October of this year.

We believe this change will be more convenient for more participants and allow more racers to attend.  We appreciate everyone’s understanding as we transition to the new date.

 Matt Williams
 President
Gold Coast Roadster & Racing Club

When you come to Gas Up 2011, Saturday April 30, 2011, look me up.

I do the foto album so I'll be all over the place.

We need to pay respects to Gene Burkland and the Burkland family.

He will be honored at the event.

Read the post on the Home page of Landrracing.com

Matt Williams and Tim Rochlitzer in the foto.

Always a great event, A place where the racers gather and see the new inductees and why they are so honored. No politics. Many great stories and displays of the history of LSR. The list of inductees is awesome. See you there.
 cheers

How old would you be now if you didn't know how old you are?
If you can't race it or take it to bed - it ain't worth having.

If they have a wireless internet connection I'll post some images from Gas Up.

That will be Friday night or Saturday AM.

I've altered the size of deucemac's image.

Just a pair of HEROS.

Can you imagine Betty wanting to bring the 'liner back to the Salt?

I think it burns inside her.
