How Many Days?
« on: December 20, 2009, 03:00:07 PM »
So, I had all this time on my hands and nothing to do with it, so I started figuring how many "actual" days until Speed Week  (lack of salt is making me shaky!)  So here's what I've figured, keeping in mind, this an under estimate because travel times vary:

Between now and Speed Week:   16 days racing at events.
Travel days to said events:          20  (may be closer to 32)   :-P
Holiday interruption:                    9  (if traveling somewhere, could double)

Total days lost to prepare/build:  45 days   :-o

That means you only have 182 days to get ready for Speed Week  (and I didn't even include volunteer days that makes it even sooner!  So, guess you guys don't have as much time as you thought!  Racing is coming, so better get busy!!

That's right! And remember, I didn't include Anniversaries (-1)  Birthdays (-2) or sick days (-4, unless it's kidney stones, then better figure -7 days  :-D ).  Oh, and apparently there are those no power days because of storms  (-?)  Gosh!!  you guys only have 2 weeks left til Maxton   :-o  !

I'm busy gardening.

How many days does it take a money tree seed to germinate?   :?
I knew I should have just bought seedlings and built a greenhouse.  :|

Well, I found that the money tree is fussy about the kind of fertilizer you use.

Using composted aluminum pistons apparently is not high enough in nutritional value.  Nor did iron block fragments seem to help it grow.

If anything, it probably killed it, although I suspect it was high salinity that was the cause of it's demise.  When fed asphalt or high desert dirt it seems to grow better, not die as fast.

Unh, I know that thread didn't start talking about Lake Gairdner -- but the note I got overnight from Bob Ellis reminds me (and therefore us) that it's about 30 days 'til the DLRA SpeedWeek.  And the note included this photo and a link to youtube.  He asked me to post both (I guess things being upsside-down in NZ makes such attachments difficult).  Note, if you will, the fine license plate on this car.  Oh, and here's the link:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpXcM3Vxo1k

Cheers!

You're right SSS.  How could I have been so negligent?  So, here's the breakdown for the upside down folks

                      30 days until RACING starts
                    -  2 days travel to get there (I'm sure I'm being kind in that figure)
                    -  1 day pit/camp setup
                    -  1 day holiday (do you celebrate Valentine's Day?) if not, I'm sure there's a birthday involved
                    - 20 days of fund raising (work/job/slavery, you get the idea)
                   ______
Equals     4  days to get everything done..........have you finished your build yet?   Time's awasting..get to it!!

Stay safe everyone,  go fast, stay upright,

Lynda
