Watched the Mustang run at the TX Mile last spring kept blowing hoses off at above 180 if I remember!!!!!!!!11
Yes, most intercooler plumbing is not made to handle the kind of boost a bombed diesel will generate. A "mild" build would be 50psig, going up to 120psig on some of the sledpullers. We blew up intercooler hoses at B'Ville. First pass at ~202mph, and about 2.7 miles, it sounded like a grenade went off, so I shut-off and pulled the chute, and still coasted to a 193? on the 2-3. People heard the pop at the start line. Second pass, blew a hose also but a busted piston is what sent us home. It actually tears through the 5-layer silicone couplers, it doesn't "slip-off". We need metal flex couplers, but they are $$$.
