Coast Down Formula

Here is a forumula to figure out a Coeficient of Drag number. It is called the coast down method, if you are not lucky enough to have wind tunnel data then this is a way to get a "General" number with some thinking behind it, instead of shooting in the dark on a number.

Have just taken my Kawasaki ZRX1200 out and done a cuppla test runs to get  data ie, coast down time,,, the first two passes were spent getting  cordination right, three further passes netted 22 seconds to coast down from 100mph to 50mph,, put this time along with current weather information into the forumla provided and it tells me 1.774 cod,, the bike is my daily ride and the test was done in  street trim, diddent have a tight tuck, just crouched over,,,,, hope this information helps somewon :-)
