Production class and tape
« on: November 28, 2009, 03:54:06 AM »
Is it legal to tape up panel gaps in production classes (specifically production pickup) and if so are there certain areas that can/can not be taped?
Current Project; (ECTA C/PP) 1984 Dodge Ram D150 318, A727A, 2.94 gear.

Long Term Project; "Petty Ram" hopefully 200+mph at the Monster Mile.

Rule book says no taped seams.

ND,

No taped seams, but you can remove the mirrors.

Forget the tape for production,in front grill, look at the cowl area.
Lower the truck,box the frame,
Batt. kill switch in back marked well.
The  B bar with removeable door bar may be go to 150.(Maxton only)If it is a street truck get with Joe Timney for roll bar.
Leave the spare tire under the truck (less drag than rear bumper)
You have to have race seat over 135,at 175 must have head/shoulder support
good luck

I thought that the ride height had to be unaltered in production. :?

I think Terry is correct and you can lower the ride height and still be production.
(and if you can,,,  then you should...)

Yes you change the ride height in Production.
My car is so low the headers get dinged up bad on the return road at Maxton.

You can't chop the top in production
you can lower the chassis.

Does the method of lowering matter as far as passing tech or will removable spring clamps suffice since I do still plan to drive it on the street when not on the track.

Tech's main concern is SAFETY....  your responsibility is to make sure any mods fit your class. Until you try to register a record probably not that big a deal....

Can't imagine anyone protesting a non record run ??
