Bill,

Thats an old view. The book text and ads are at the printer and I will be meeting with them in less than 2 hours.

Many people work very hard to get the rulebook in your hands at the earliest possible time. We have been working towards a January release for several years.

How soon do you feel the book should be avaialable?

Dan, January is a very bold goal... especially if that is a postmark date to BNI members.  I think everyone would and should be happy if the books get in the mail to current BNI members by 1 March.
Are the printed rules unchanged from what has been published on this site?
I know the clubs get theirs first, and I don't have an issue with that as long as BNI members get them in a timely manner.... have gotten mine as late as July in the past so anything is better than having less than a month.
Thanks for all the hard work

The reason I asked is that there was mention of a January release, and my 2009 copy is sitting over at my roll cage builder's shop.

Thanks to everyone for getting it this far, this fast.

The posted changes are what is rolled into the 2009 book. Slight changes, no four wheel drive motorcycles, 2005 or later helmets allowed, 10% of rig weight on sidecar wheel, etc.

Another trip to the printer tomorrow. Proof corrections are coming in so that part of the process will take less time. Approx. three weeks from final proof to completion. Most time is at the binders.

I am trying to get our ad guy to complete the Wossner pistons ad however he had a loss in the family and I cannot get a due date on the ad so if need be send it off without our full page ad.

Judy has a drop dead date for the last few ads. She can handle it.

Need to have the company logo, a picture perhaps of a record setting person using our components (Guy Caputo?) and our website info as well.

Who can get me the ad in time (needed yesterday) for the 2010 SCTA rulebook?

I was told today that the 2010 rule books are at the printers. I would think early February before they start to give to clubs and send to members. Remember it's a voluntary Assoc. and it does take a little time to send out that many books.

I had a quick ad done by a friend while I was in Taiwan for Wossner Pistons and of course SCTA racer discounts will be offered, it was not in the ad however will be honored as long as the racer is running our Wossner decals on the race vehicle.

Dan, I think you've made a mis-statement.  I went back to the home page of this site and it tells us that 2005 or later helmets will be required after January 2011 -- not this season.

Would you please clarify the point?  I don't want to re-start the long Plymouthing match that ensued last time about helmets -- but need to know for sure.  Thanks.

Thanks, Pat.  I thought so -- but didn't want to get a nasty surprise when we show up with outdated helmets.

PS  The LMM-engined truck is on the ground at the dealership and should get into my garage by Wednesday evening, I think.  Lotsa torque, you say?  Good - - I'm driving a gas-engine Envoy as a loaner -- so wimpy it has to first unlock the converter then shift down a gear before it can make it up hills on the US highway -- which ain't that steep.  I look forward to getting back to a diesel.

This is the correct rulebook wording in three places:

3.A.2   Driver’s Helmet:
All drivers/riders shall wear a full-face helmet with face shield. A Snell Foundation tag reading SA2000 or M2000 or later is required. Snell Foundation SA2005 or later certification will be required on all car and motorcycle streamliner helmets beginning on January 1, 2011. No open face helmets will be allowed. Helmets will be visually inspected at least once each year. Helmets shall be undamaged and in serviceable condition. Eyeglasses worn under the helmet shall be shatterproof.

7.C.1   Rider’s Helmet:
All riders shall wear a full-face helmet with face shield, which shall meet Snell Foundation M2000 or later specifications. No open face helmets will be allowed. Helmets will be visually inspected at least once each year. Helmets shall be undamaged, unmodified and in serviceable condition. Eyeglasses worn under the helmet shall be shatterproof. Snell Foundation M2005 or later certification will be required on all helmets beginning January 1, 2011. Snell Foundation SA2005 or later certification will be required on all motorcycle streamliner helmets beginning on January 1, 2011. Riders shall demonstrate proper helmet fit and “roll-off” resistance.

7.H.3   Driver/Rider Suit:
A complete, approved driver/rider suit conforming to SFI specification 3.2A/15 is REQUIRED. Gloves and boots shall be SFI specification 3.3/5 rating. A SFI specification 3.3 head sock shall be worn under the helmet. Snell Foundation SA2005 or later certification will be required on all motorcycle streamliner helmets beginning on January 1, 2011.
