2010 Rule changes posted
« on: November 22, 2009, 09:46:31 AM »
I've posted four pages of rule changes for the 2010 SCTA rulebook on the home page of the website.  Take a careful look -- you'll see such important items as the fact that it's hoped the new rulebook will be ready in January!

Only the first page is on the front of the site -- you'll need to click the "read more" to get all of the stuff.

There you have it, boys and girls -- hot off the press.  Thank Dan Warner when you see or talk to him -- this is about the earliest ever for having next year's rule changes posted.

Whats with the new top chop rule ...quote...."Within the Classic Category pre-1949 bodies may have a 3 in. beauty chop."
Does that mean my model A sedan(6 inch chop) is now illegal for Classic class after 5 years?, there are other pre 49 cars that run in classic class that this will effect also!
Guess I'll just have to run in straight up altered or Competition coupe now :-D

If your top has more than a 3 inch  chop, it  will not be legal for "Classic" Class.  That is how I read it.

I saw this rule and since my Stude is a 53, It can  not have any chop for "Classic"

Oh well,,,

Ok, we are looking at using dual axles on the rear of our streamliner thus making it four wheel drive (technically). Does the new rule mean NO 4WD or that you cannot power the front wheels? Could we throw another axle under the rear making it six wheel drive and be ok? (not that we would, I just want to understand the intention of the new rule.)

5.A Special Construction Category
This category is the pinnacle of the straightaway racer’s art. It contains three main groups. In the automobile group are the unlimited Streamliners and open-wheeled Lakesters with a 4+ wheel configuration and in the motorcycle group are the Streamliner and Streamliner Sidecar classes. These classes allow both blown and unblown, gas or fuel engines. These are all-out straightaway vehicles with non-stock engine blocks allowed, (with the exception of specific Vintage engine classes). Innovation is encouraged, within the rules. Modified production bodies are forbidden.Four-wheel drive is allowed in the automotive group only.

Four wheel drive in the streamlined motorcycle class would be hard. (Shhh just between you and me those bike guys are not real smart so they need clarification in the rule book)

The only 4 wheel MC I've ever seen is most often referred to as a quad, not a motorcycle that's what has me a bit befuddled. They have mixed MC and automotive streamliners together, and said 4wd in the automotive group only. Is that 4wd NON-streamliner automotive or automotive streamliner no 4wd?

Was the rule perhaps to mean no powered steering axle? Can we make it 6WD and everything would be fine?

Why didn't anybody asK me before they made this rule?

What's the question???

4-wheel drive is allowed in the automobile group  . . .

Like Creel says, "More words, same rule."

The way I understand the car streamliner rules if you have six wheels they can all be drive wheels. But what do I know I am just a bike guy. 8-)

Just looking for clarification, the interspersing of MC with 4wd in the rule had me a bit confused. So, for clarification, 2,4,5,7,9WD in an automotive streamliner IS acceptable, 4WD on a motorcycle is not. What had me confused is how do you make a 4wd motorcycle? If it has 4 wheels, it can't be a motorcycle...can it?

What's happened here is that they're trying to include motorcycle streamliners under the Special Construction Category when it comes to safety issues and such.
