I guess it's not clear to one and all, so I'll try to tell the story.
We get invaded by spambots (programs that figure a way to get enrolled/registered on the Forum) now and then. The most common form of post is a sentence or two in plain English - usually nonsensical - and sometimes the thing starts a new thread, too. Going on in the post, there are almost always links at the bottom of the suspect post -- again, written in English but highlighted in blue -- so we can tell they're links. I have never followed one of the links, figuring that it'd take me to something I don't want in my computer -- and don't want in yours, either.
So -- as the boss of this place my control panel has buttons to "Remove this post" and "Remove this topic". I use the first of those most of the time, when the spambot has just inserted something in an existing thread. But when the machine starts a new one I have to "remove this topic" -- so everything that's posted in the topic will go away, even posts from youse guys.
Either way -- sometimes the result is confusing because folks make posts that seem meaningless -- and pretty much are unless you saw the spambot's original.
Got it? It's me, trying to keep this site as clean and worry-free as I can make it.
