BBarn and I are seriously considering building a liner and using the engine (Twin Turbo BBC) and trans (TH400) from my 63 LeMans.
We will be asking your help about setting the design parameters.
We will get liner as far along as possible before disassembling Pontiac.
Ideas that we have so far include-
1) Dual Rear drive axles w 9 x 30 MT tires
2) Driver to be positioned ahead of anything flammable similar to Buckeye Bullet.
3) Body sized to fit 800" 5" bore spacing big block w very big turbos (for future improvements).
4) Structure to be built similar to Golden Rod using laser or waterjet cut plates as bulheads.
5) No suspension.
6) Front wheels to be conventional positioning like Spirit of Rett not Speed Demon.
7) Overall body structure to be rounded corner square shape cross section.
Bottom skirting to be square to minimize air getting under car.
9) 3" ride height
10) Spring loaded parachute tubes for quick reloading.
11) Single vertical tail fin.
12) 70 gal engine cooling tank. 40 gal min icewater intercooler tank. Fuel tank big enough for nitromethane.
13) Torque converter eliminator.
14) Entire car to be computerized solid modeled before first part is ordered.
15) Parts list to be as complete as possible before first part is ordered.
16) Absolutely no sponsors!
17) Absolutely no gingerbread. If it does not help it go faster, it doesn't go on the car. No chrome or nice paint.
Records are not the important thing on this car. We just want to go fast as we possibly can with the resources we have.
Anything else we should add to the list?
Should anything come off?
