Need suggestions on push bar mount

I guess if you tie to the chassis , compressing the suspension it is possible and even likely that things may loosen up because of suspension travel etc..

On the Vicky, I use axle straps over the rear end, pulling it down and to the rear of the trailer, in the front I use axle straps over the front (straight axle) pulling down and forward.  This way the chassis is not moving in any direction,,, yes the body of the car may "bounce" on it's own suspension, and the trailer may bounce on it's own suspension, but the chassis of the car ain't moving (I sure hope not)  some will say the down side to this method is putting all the down force on the tires !!!

For Maxton, it's only a 2.5 hour haul for me,,, so for Maine and Bonneville,, I will use shop tires while trailering,, changing to the race tires upon arrival at the track.

I don't think I made my point clear on the push bar issue.  The rule is intended to move modified race cars (like roadsters, lakesters, streamliners, etc.) that are disabled on the race course.  Production-based race vehicles with bumpers that can be pushed on (not fiberglass, etc.) meet the rule.  Tow-bar attachment points in the front, do, too.

That's what Lee Kennedy said to us at SW '08.

While we don't push our truck, he said we should have a way to safely push it should (err...  WHEN) it break(s) down.

So Cook made us up a pushbar that slides into the trailer hitch.

I just got the vise grips holding it for now thought i would let people smarter than me check it out and see if we need to make any changes.

The wheel is a sealed bearing 3 1/8" o.d. 1 1/4 i.d.  7/8" thick with a 1 1/4" x 5/8" bushing in the bearing for the bolt.

I used a wheel off of a two wheel scooter. Found it at a local junk store for $1. Machined the plastic hub out of the center and made a two piece aluminum hub for it. Works great. Doesn't mark up anything and actually has some cushion to it. It is 1" thick x 4" diameter. If I get a chance I will take a picture of it and post it. Doesn't Rust either. LOL
