In The 1000 BHP GRAND PRIX CARS the chapter on Cosworth says an output just over 1000 hp at 4 bar and 12000 rpm

that was two turbos and at the end of the 1987 season.

11 HP per cu in :-o

Joe the compressor wheel diameter is 2.13" in the throat, enlarging out to 3.545". The inlet throat is at 2.216".

I was figering that somewon on this site may at some time have had some experience with these turbos, and could tell me how much off a good or bad thing thay are :|

Yes, on the inside compressor housing there is a small green plate rivited, with, AiResearch Turbocharger, s/n 2183-P415 (the - is a 1 laying down),, p/n 466476-4PM.  Also embossed on the inside comphousing is A,,, MA,,, 1,,, 0,,, B68195.

On the compressor scroll near the outlet is A/R-5,,,  M10,,, A,,, 01,,, 432251-1  A,,,, there are two areas on the compscroll that have been  ground to hide information, i am going to get these dyechecked.

On the turbine scroll near the outlet is A/R-63,,, M13,,,  431453-23   D.

Where on the compressor wheel is the actual measurement taken to determine its sizeing?
