A Few October Photos
« on: October 31, 2009, 10:41:15 PM »
Here's a few photos from last weekends meet. Had a great time down there this month. I finally got to meet a few of my customers in person and had some good conversations. But with all of the good time,  there still was that bittersweet feeling after the tragic passing of another racer. Godspeed Guy Lombardi. I know he in in all our thoughts and prayers.
I hope ya'll enjoy the photos and I hope to see everyone again next year.
I hope everyone has a Happy and Safe Holiday Season

Thanks to all for your support

David

The airplane isn't as fast as the cars.

Check the pan blur on the posts vs. the cones.

Good job, DW.

Thanks once again for the magnificant photos David. We WILL be ordering a few soon. Can anything be done about Mr flyboy? Seems like a potentially serious safety concern. I'm pretty sure he would be a little upset by our presence on his landing strip.

Well, since his tail number -- N 428 GW -- is known, I'd think there is a pretty easy way to find out who he is and ask the powers that be (whether they be ECTA or FAA) to ask him not to repeat his flyover.

Concerning the airplane . . . .

This isn't true but imagine if  . . . .

Dateline: Maxton NC - It was announced today that the ECTA has acquired a new partner in the continuing quest to maintain a safe and secure racing facility.  In light of recent intrusions by unidentified aircraft the management of ECTA has joined with the US Army at Fort Bragg and obtained the services of the 2-44th Air Defense Artillery Battalion.  When asked about the difficulty of identifying friend from foe, LTC  Wilfred (call me 'Mack') MacGrath replied, "We shootem all down and sort it out on the ground."  ECTA Director of Competition, and retired Helicopter Pilot, Keith Turk put down a diet Coke long enough to comment that since he was no longer flying, it seemed OK with him.  He did wonder if BMW motorcycles could also be targeted.  ECTA President Joe Timney (better known as Donna's husband) said he was pleased with the results of a recent test although he wished to apologize the Delta Airlines Flight 246.  "From that distance it looked a lot like a Cessna" Timney said.  As an additional precaution the Motorcycle Committee is evaluating the faster riders' tuck positions to help them from being picked up on Air Defense Radar.

ECTA Volunteer Coordinator, Dan Stokes, was overheard saying "Now if there is just something we can do with those pesky skydivers. . . ."

Hi Dave. Nice pics you took at Maxton. Is there any chance I could buy a print of my Firebird (white car, # 3.9.78)? I'd like to have it for my files. Also, can you tell me the time of day the picture as taken? That would also be helpful.
Thanks!
jeff
