windy Texas
« on: October 17, 2009, 04:51:45 AM »
Friday:
wind at nearby airport recording 14-19mph straight crosswind, gusting to 30, many bikes not running in the morning more went out in the afternoon.

On my NA heap, i got 201.8, doug meyer got 201.6. Wind difference between runs bc doug is always faster than me.

Mike Hooks got 199.6 on a stock cc, built Busa.

I've been coming to the Texas Mile since it started in Oct 2003, and never seen this strength wind.

Strangely the very heavy cross winds did not generally feel real hard to ride in (other than being tipped over big time).  There were moments tho...

It's safe, but probably not for your first rodeo.

Sat is supposed to be better.

I'm figuring this is pay back for Loring's tailwind   :-D

I campaigned a turbo Kawasaki Z1 "funny bike" back in the 70's ... It was blue though ... I also rode a Rickman Pee Yellow Z1 street machine ... That should qualify for TFA ...
