That is the Ballpoint Banana... discussed on other threads multiple times. Arnold brought it out until about 85 or 86 I think, Arnold has passed, but Kathy and Punky still have the car in Tawanda, NY. Punky's grandson visits the site occasionally... it had a 37 Evinrude on alcohol in it, rope start.

Thanks Dean! My search didn't grab that thread. Was a couple of front end pics there. If anyone else has more info, i would appreciate it. Does anyone have an idea on the wheelbase and track width?

My guess is 5 ft X 30 inches... the car is very small. Johnboy... post the pic with the big square thing next to it.

There is a small red streamliner upstairs in the Nugget.. I would say around 11 or 12 ft long by about 4 wide.. I know it had a beltdrive inside it, motor was out.. I mentioned this thread to a buddy I showed the red one to, and he seems to think the sign beside it said that it had a Evinrude in it as well..  .. not sure about that but sort of interesting, maybe same liner? |

The red liner at the Nuggett is the old EELCO car, there were two as I recall, the other was inthe Speedway museum.

If I'm not mistaken, the EELCO car at the Nugget is the Wee Eel , had a couple of differant motors in it at differant times. Crow.

That's the Wee Wee Eel. Eels Lohn donated the car to the USFRA in 1994. The exterior restoration was by Monte Widdison, Gary Wilkinson, Ron Christensen and some others. Eels had run it with a British Ford engine and had problems getting it to go fast enough until he took the jets completely out of carburetors and it wasn't starving for fuel. He went over 200 in the car and was complaining that he had never been inducted into the 2Club. Larry Volk and Rick Vesco took care of that on the spot because he had definitely qualified. The frame and interior of the car would never pass tech today but the exterior is very nice, a slick little car. The rear wheels are very close together with just enough room for the drive chain and sprocket between them. It originally was on display at the Saltair building but when the fellow who ran the gift shop where it was displayed decided to move out it was transferred to club members garages. Somehow it ended up at what was then the Stateline Hotel. It has been poorly maintained in the present location, sad to say.

Added on your Eels Lohn story. When he finally got that fuel motor to run he was contolling the mixture with the fuel shut off. He finally got it a little lean, burned through a header and almost asphyxiated himself on the nitro fumes. The quote from Joe Paisano was "Eels was willing to gas himself to go 200".
