Bike 553, looks like a stock 'Busa, leaving the long start on the int'l course.

Bub bike still in the air - not on the course.  Side covers off -- I can see the motor from here.  Oooops -- putting the cover on right now.

Truck thermometer showed 88 as we drove down here.  Neglible wind at this end (right close by the freeway).  Shows 110 sitting still with windows closed, enginee and air conditioning running.  HOT!

553 still hasn't left the line.

553 has left the line (was waiting for some return runs to end, it turns out).  He's at about the one mile.

553 (Jeff Cauby, Sebastopol, CA) runs 178.3

1150 was a turnout.

The reason I had a bad feeling was not only was it the first run for the liner however the first for the new rider on the salt..that liner is not the easiest to look forward from as I remember Gary had to look through a periscope while laying nearly flat on his back.  :-o

I do wish them safe and fast runs however.

Crow,
Yes Arrow does use a periscope. I had the good fortune of sitting in the Arrow last year and it was remarkable how well the periscope worked. It was as if you were looking through a standard windscreen attached to the body.
Cheers,
Scott

Willie, the periscope was the issue that kept them from running 'til now.  They had only about 90 degrees of peripheral vision -- rules want 120.  They were pounding and beating on things when I visited the pit the other day.  I guess that they got it past tech -- have no idea why the bike turned out a little while ago.

Keep on keeping on, folks.  Bub bike is all wrapped up in bodywork, but still in the air.  It's 25 minutes 'til shut-down for FIM qualifying runs -- gotta get going.  Three bikes waiting to go, before Bub, and befoe they can go we've got some return runs on the course.

Of course -- I think that the Bub bike gets to pull rank when it's time to run -- the rest of the waiting line keeps on waiting.

I see seven people by the #7-- six of 'em watching the last one reach inside the bike.  Nothing else going on down here.

Other runs -- Bike 191, one of the Swiss guys, on an '08 Suzuki BKing ran a 173.4 mph.

SSS-- Is your laptop a PC or a Mac?  I dug around the back room for a camera with Audio/Visual, now just need to pick up a capture device to put between it and your computer.  Small time production, but should be able to webcast.  I'll see what needs to be done on your site for a running window.  I'll came out to WoS, as of Day 2, and if you have time we can fiddle with it if things aren't too busy (Huh?).  Now, the world will STILL expect updates as great as this thread.  Especially since a bunch of folk are away from their computers til after work.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice.  But in practice, there is.--Jan L. A. Van de Snepscheut

JW,

Any news about Richard Assen?  Top time seems like it should be better so I assume he is waiting on parts or better salt?

The 1150 bike did have 120 deg of vision in the past...I think Dave might be sitting lower and farther away from the mirror than me. He is a lot smaller than me...at 5'10 I'm as big as the bike will hold. The farther away from the mirror you are the less with of view.
