yeah I didnt see a run for their number with the turbine bike... Wonder if they had a problem in tech that prevented them from running.

I really wanted to see them run that thing, it was a blast at WOS a few years ago. How they were fixing the problem with salt intake was another thing I was curious about... They were going to add some type of gear box on it instead of a direct drive system If I remember correctly.

Howdy.  It's morning.  Here's what we know so far:
Rosey LACKEY (sorry, we mis-named him the other day -- his last name is as shown a few words ago) -- Rosey was making his run on 2215 on the Int'l course and went down about the 1 1/2.  He's up and about and apparently okay, from what Mr. Radio pronouncer sez) and they're doing a course sweep looking for a kickstand.

Bub bike found the problem last night, is in pre-stage and the engine has run, and they're now just waiting for the wind to do something different than whatever it's doing right now.  It's a down-course breeze about 8 mph, I'd guess -- tailwind.

Joe (Daly) -- Serge made a run on the XB9 this morning and went 135.  I'm sorry that I don't have the classes in which the bikes run -- but the announcements don't include any data but the number and the rider's name.  About the only way to get a class is to wait in impound for the bike to return - and see what's written down.

This morning the Bub bike is staged at about the 1/2 mile, for whatever reason, so all riders are starting there.  But they're only allowing two bikes at a time at that point -- and that's ALL!  We were sitting there to do this update and got chased away and then flag-waved away (yup, got scolded twice already).  I'm not sure why Bub is at the 1/2 -- but then, I'm just a reporter, not a ruler.

E-Z Hook leaving the pit and heading to pre-stage.

Oh entire-course hold -- radio system is down.  Nothing happening.

Yeah, I think Sam Wheeler's entry is a crowd favorite -- if for no other reason than so much goofy stuff goes on in the pit.  We were there yesterday afternoon watching Terry and Sam tightening a worm-screw clamp on a radiator hose -- and pushing and shoving one another aside when Sam wanted to use the hex head and Terry opted for the screwdriver slot to adjust the tension.  These guys are serious racers, too!

Well, maybe it wasn't quite like that -- just observing that both were smiling while working on it.  Lots more fun than I see in someother pits.

Rex Svoboda just drove past and reported that the repeater system is back in operation.  We're hearing them check out the various stations.  Good news -- back to racing, I hope.  No sign of Wheeler's bike yet -- and we'reon the access road by the long int'l start line -- he'll go past here on the way to the line.  I'll let you know.

Alan Cathcart on the 7171 Thruxton Triumph on the Int'l course, and the 1457 ZX14R just ran a 181 on the mountain course -- qualifies him for the long course.

Cathcart runs 148.0

Wheeler and Buddfab just drove past us -- arriving in prestage in a few seconds.  COOL!  Candid shot, from the driver's seat of the pickup, of #999

Here's a shot of the course map for you, John -- and everyone, that is.  Sorry for the blueness - I didn't have time to color-correct (like Ray is doing in the shots he's giving us).

Abnd here's Scott Stites leaving impound for a return run yesterday.  Just a shoot-from-the-hip candid -- but he was having fun, no doubt.

Todd"

Here's a detail of the fenders on a trailerette like we've got.  I like them -- reduce them amount of salt that's spewed onto the bike during runs to pits from end/runs to staging from pits.  They attach with mini-trailer hitch-type mounts.  Next year, hey?
