Not much going on but runs.  The radio announcer talks abouthow fast they're cranking through -- Billy Shoemaker talks about how slow things are moving (3 runs in three days for him).  Anyway -- I'll take a photo or two and then head down to the int'l long course start to see what's and who's down there.

Sam's bike is together and in the pits.  Bub is still chasing MoTeC gremlins (just left the long int'l start line and got that update.  Leslie Porterfield is on the course now -- runs 217.954.  Her best run so far.  The salt sounds pretty good -- not too much whelspin.

Nancy and I are making a quick run to town -- stay tuned, but it'll be about an hour 'til we're back on the air.

I just talked to Sam and he is ready to go.  Not sure about the salt conditions so he may wait until later in the day or tomorrow.

It's pretty breezy down at the start line for 'liners -- but if Sam says he'll go - then he'll go.  He wasn't at the line just now, though.

SSS I meant the liner is ready to go when the conditions are right for Sam.  He seems to want the course a bit drier than it is now.

Great coverage.

Here are photos of things like an intereting bike hooker-upper:

And saying how fast they'd go if only. . .

Thanks for including the shots of the Swiss rig from legendary swiss tuner FRITZ EGLI who will going for a supercharged sidecar record. Egli has a long-time history dating back to the late sixties for his frames and rolling chassis kits.  Egli Vincents, et al.  Although already in his seventies, he still creates extraordinary motorcycles, like his Egli B-King w/Hayabus engine. Fritz, aka "The Wizard of Schangnau."

First of all, Fireman Jim just ran a return of 201.846 -- is happy - got his naked 200+ run in.  Happy is a bit understated -- he's tickled!

And Fritz Egli just did a return run of 211+.  He was being interviewed - I couldn't get to him to see the time slip and it isn't posted on the paperwork yet.

It's 3.30 -- and just like yesterday, the wind is picking up quickly.  Then - things went on hold 'til the wind died down, which only happened late in the afternoon.  We're still racing - but it's going to be really breezy and scary out there.  No news on the 'liners - save that the 666 ran in the 90s.  I'll go visit.

Dean, I kinda thought you'd be cheering for Jim on that run.  You nekkid bike speedsters stick together.

Deb,

If it were ECTA or SCTA it would be legal, the sidecar rules are very limited and allow many things including dustbin fairings, solid rims, smaller than 15" rims, ...

That 211 is a great speed , our record on our woas is 218+ in the dirt last year along with records at 207,212, 216 and our 997cc engine just ran 191+ at the last El mirage event.

I am sure that sidecar is built right and has the power and aero to go even faster.    I wish I could see it in person..maybe very soon, whats the top time?

JW, thanks for the pictures... :-D

John

PS, Awesome number for JIM ! ! !! !
