Wheel balance weights
« on: August 12, 2009, 09:39:12 PM »
Wheel balance weights for cars. Are the clip-ons ok to use, as balance man doesn't have the stick-on type. Under 135 mph.

                              Thanks

We use the clip on weights and go 350 mph with them.  We have had very little problems.  Once in awhile we have lost one but only once or twice.  We use  to put some JB weld on them to help hold them in place

Don't know about cars, but with bikes and stick on weights they like to see atleast duct tape on them.

Thank you gentlemen for your input.

Brian... neat trick, that glue is

relaxed... I used to run bikes & am aware of the tape portion. First show-up with 4 wheels though. Trying to cut my losses.   :-D

We use the clip ons on the 222 Camaro and we silicon around them after installation, wipeing any excess off

With every thing CLEAN, a hot glue gun works well.  Mark the weight location, put a dab on the back side of weight and bang it on.

I use " Liquid Nail " from Home Depot with the clip on type. Darn near have to chisel them off. Used to use 3M weatherstrip adhesive also known as gorilla snot. But it was messy.

"Depends"  ?  Lol   they are velcro not clip on's

Oh back to wheel weights... I use Moon Disks (attached with the Dzus tab kit)  do you recon if a wheel weight flung off it would go through them or be contained till I stopped ?  Hmm I imagine it would sure make some noise.. may need them "depends" for me too,, if that was to happen ??  Think I better glue them on too,,,,
